Our thoughts are with Premier Klein’s family during this difficult time.
At United Way, we are grateful for the years he spent working for us in the 1960s, managing our public relations. Even in his 20s, he was dedicated to making Calgary a great city.
As we reflect on the impact this man had on people throughout his life and now in his passing, I am reminded of the last words my Mom said to me unexpectedly from the depths of her dementia: “When you have a baby, you never know how it’s going to turn out.”
One of Premier Klein’s legacies is that he showed us how ordinary people can do extraordinary things. He showed us that each of us has the responsibility and everything we need within us to change the world by how we interact with those around us.
Let’s all do our part in carrying on that spirit.
