'Twas the Night

‘Twas the night…to give back!

With the second annual ‘Twas the Night shopping event fast approaching, we wanted to find out a little more about why the CORE wanted to give back to the community in such a big way. All the proceeds from the $15 ticket sales go back to the community, specifically United Way’s BeCause initiative and the National Music Centre. We chatted with the CORE’s Marketing Director Kim Bogner about what makes this event so special.

Why has the CORE chosen to support United Way’s BeCause initiative?

United Way’s BeCause initiative was chosen because it is a charity that is a leading catalyst in the transformation of urban Calgary and focusing on engaging the next generation of community leaders in Calgary.

Who should come to ‘Twas the Night?

Anyone and everyone looking to get a jump start on their holiday shopping, all while being surrounded by extraordinary entertainment and a festive atmosphere.

There will be something for everyone; of the stores offering a discount, there is not one offering less than 20% off. But what I like about ‘Twas the Night as well, is that more than just ‘deals,’ lots of our retailers are creating one-night-only experiences that are really special: you’re going to find a paper dress fashion show at PAPYRUS, DJs spinning at GUESS, holiday carolers and hot chocolate at the GAP, and enjoy a chocolate fountain with Purdy’s head chocolatier!  In addition, Noreen Flanagan is providing us with her gift guide with suggestions right from the pages of the December issue of ELLE, and we’ve got tons of ideas on coreshopping.ca from local shopping experts and Calgary’s favourite faces.

What are you looking forward to about this year’s event?

This year has been a special year for Calgary; the Calgary Stampede Centennial and Calgary 2012 have meant that Calgarians have spent the year welcoming the world to celebrate what makes us unique. ‘Twas the Night 2012 will be the finale event for this extraordinary year, so we’re thrilled to be welcoming home the likes of Jessi Cruickshank and Noreen Flanagan and to feature Cultural Capital 2012 ambassadors the Alberta Ballet, who will perform highlights from The Nutcracker, a performance specially choreographed for the CORE under the skylight.

‘Twas the Night takes place Wednesday, November 28 and tickets are available online.
